Filmboutique to focus on German-lingo productions

BERLIN — The 8th Zurich Film Festival is launching a mini-market aimed at German-language productions at this year’s event, which runs Sept. 20-30.

Taking place Sept. 27-29, the ZFF Filmboutique will screen between 20 and 30 feature and documentary films from German-speaking countries along with a work-in-progress block that features excerpts of productions still to be completed.

The mart will not only offer German-speaking filmmakers the chance to present their works to the industry, but also provide world sales companies, distributors and festival delegates “the perfect overview of one of the most important markets in Europe,” said Zurich Film Festival artistic director Karl Spoerri.

The Filmboutique also supports the fest’s mission to increase the number of industry professionals coming to Zurich, he added.
