Zemeckis takes flight — again

Helmer unconcerned with 'Cast Away' comparisons

Even though its been 12 years since his last live action film bowed, it was business as usual for Robert Zemeckis at the L.A. preem for Paramount’s “Flight” on Oct. 23.

Zemeckis was joined by star Denzel Washington, scribe John Gatins and co-stars Kelly Reilly and Bruce Greenwood at the Cinerama Dome.

Later, at the Academy Hollywood afterparty, Zemeckis said that some of his advisers and partners were a little worried about his doing another plane crash pic, after “Cast Away” in 2000. But he didn’t see it that way.

“To me it was too good of a project to pass up just because it involved a plane crash,” Zemeckis said.
