XLrator Media has acquired all U.S. rights to horror-thriller “American Mary,” written and directed by Jen and Sylvia Soska, for a 2013 release through its Screamfest label.
“American Mary,” produced by IndustryWorks Pictures, Evan Tylor and John Curtis, won five awards at the Screamfest festival in October including best film, director, actress, cinematography and makeup.
Movie follows a medical student, played by Katharine Isabelle, who grows increasingly broke and disenchanted with medical school as the allure of easy money and notoriety sends her into the shady world of underground surgery and body modification. The film co-stars Antonio Cupo, Tristan Risk, David Lovgren and Paula Lindberg.
XLrator Media launching multi-platform releasing labels Screamfest and Macabre in October for horror and genre films in North America.
First titles under the Screamfest banner will be zombie actioner “Outpost: Black Sun” and the Norwegian thriller “Thale,” which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival; first titles for the Macabre label will be “Bigfoot: the Lost Coast Tapes” and vampire tale “The Thompsons.”
Deal for “Mary” was negotiated by Caterina Scrivano and John Curtis on behalf of Evan Tylor and IndustryWorks Pictures with Gordon and Mike Radiloff on behalf of XLrator Media.
