Norwegian supernatural thriller screening at TIFF

XLrator Media has acquired all U.S. rights to the Norwegian supernatural thriller “Thale” and will release the film in early 2013.

The announcement was made at the Toronto International Film Festival, where “Thale” is scheduled to screen Wednesday night in the fest’s Vanguard section. 

Pic is directed by Aleksander L. Nordaas from his own script. “Thale” is produced by Bendik Heggen Stronstad under his Yesbox Productions banner, co-produced by Lars L. Maroy at Film Found Fuzz and exec produced by Gudrun Giddings, Tore Fredrik Dreyer and Lars Andreas Hellebust.

Story centers on two forensic clean-up men discovering a deadly mythological siren hidden in the basement of a remote cabin in the Norwegian woods. Film stars Silje Reinamo, Jon Sigve Skard, Erlend Nervold, Morten Andresen, Sunniva Lien and Roland Astrand.

XYZ Films is representing the U.S. rights while Epic Pictures is handling international sales.

The deal was negotiated by XLrator CEO Barry Gordon, Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films and Gudrun Giddings and Kim H. Swartz at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP.
