‘Wrath’ reaps $1 million at midnights

Positions pic to fall in projected range

Warner Bros.’ “Wrath of the Titans” got off to an OK start Thursday night with $1 million from approximately 1,500 midnight runs.

The midnight take for Warner’s 3D sequel to 2010’s “Clash of the Titans” positions the pic to fall within its projected high-$30 million to low-$40 million weekend range, though it’s unlikely “Wrath” will stomp away with a three-day B.O. take much larger than that.

“Clash,” which earned $61 million in three days, scored $4.2 million from late-night shows — some starting as early as 8 p.m. Moreover, that pic also benefited from bowing Easter weekend, with about 81% of students out of school for Good Friday.

“Wrath” expands today to more than 3,500 Stateside locations, of which roughly 2,900 are in 3D.
