Will Ferrell, Paramount planning ‘Anchorman 2’

Adam McKay returns to direct

Will Ferrell and Paramount are planning to bring Ron Burgundy back to the screen with Ferrell on board to star in “Anchorman 2.”

Ferrell will also write the script with Adam McKay who will return to direct. There’s no news yet on which of the cast members would return from the team that included Paul Rudd and Steve Carell.

No plot details for the follow-up to the escapades of 1970s anchorman Burgundy.

Ferrell and McKay will produce through Gary Sanchez Prods. while Judd Apatow will produce under his production banner.

Ferrell made the announcement on Conan O’Brien’s show which was taped earlier today.

The original pic was released in 2004 and went on to gross more than $80 million at the domestic box office.
