Wibberley duo to rewrite ‘Drake’s Fortune’ for Sony

Marianne and Cormac Wibberley tapped to pen videogame adaptation

Scribes Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who were the architects of Disney’s “National Treasure” franchise, have been tapped to rewrite “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” for Sony Pictures, Atlas Entertainment and Arad Prods.

Neil Burger (“Limitless”) is no longer attached to direct the big-budget adaptation of Sony PlayStation’s blockbuster “Uncharted” videogame franchise, developed by Naughty Dog. Project will wait until the Wibberleys complete their script to tap a new helmer.

Story charts the journey of protag Nathan Drake as he seeks the fabled lost treasure of El Dorado.

Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing for Atlas, while Avi and Ari Arad will produce through their Arad Prods. banner.

The Wibberleys wrote both “National Treasure” pics as well as Sony’s “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.” The WME-repped duo also created the USA Network series “Common Law.”
