‘Werewolves’ prowls Germany, Japan

Senator, Shochiku acquire rights

Japan’s Shochiku and Germany’s Senator have acquired all Japanese and German rights respectively to Juan Martinez Moreno’s “Lobos de arga” (Game of Werewolves), produced by Spain’s Telespan 2000 and Vaca Films.

Vertice Sales initiated negotiations at the American Film Market, where Spain’s Vertice 360 kicked off sales.

The Senator deal was finalized at the European Film Market, said Vertice Sales managing director Gonzalo Sagardia.

A genre spoof starring Spain’s Gorka Otxoa and Carlos Areces, “Werewolves” turns on a wannabe writer who returns to the remote Spanish village where he was born in search of inspiration. The village, however, suffers a strange curse.

“Werewolves” world-preemed at October’s Sitges Festival.

“It’s an adventure and fantasy picture with shocks, but targeting family audiences,” Sagardia explained.

“Werewolves” has also been licensed to Indonesia and Malaysia via Visicom and the Middle East’s Gulf Films.

“Werewolves” is also near to closing the U.S. and East Europe with a prominent pay TV outlet.
