Exec was previously at British Film Commish

LONDON — Pinewood Studios Group, which operates Pinewood, Shepperton and Teddington Studios in the U.K., has appointed Andy Weltman to head its Los Angeles office as exec VP of Pinewood USA.

Weltman was previously exec VP of U.S. production for the British Film Commission in L.A., where he was responsible for attracting Hollywood majors and U.S. indies to lense in Blighty.

He has been based in L.A. for four years and also had a stint at the now-defunct U.K. Film Council.

At Pinewood, Weltman will be responsible for managing U.S. clients and coordinating international sales.

Pinewood has been on a mission to develop its international strategy. It already has facilities in Germany, Canada and Malaysia and set up its L.A. office in January 2011.

Recent projects that have used Pinewood facilities include Bond pic “Skyfall,” Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” and Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
