WB moves up ‘Lego’ three weeks

Live-action/animation pic set for release Feb. 7, 2014

Warner Bros. has jumped its “Lego” release date forward by three weeks to Feb. 7, 2014.

“Lego,” a hybrid of live action and animation, is being directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller from their original screenplay. Film will be produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee with Oz vfx-toon house Animal Logic doing the animation.

Warner made the date switch after Sony bumped up “Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers” from the Feb. 7, 2014 slot to Sept. 27, 2013. Lord and Miller directed the original “Cloudy.”

In its new date, “Lego” will act as family counterprogramming to Sony’s “RoboCop” remake, which also moved last week from August 2013. Disney’s actioner “Need for Speed” rounds out the Feb. 7, 2014, date.
