Warner Bros. has set a March 14, 2014, opening for Doug Liman’s sci-fi actioner “All You Need Is Kill,” starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
Studio is teamed with Legendary Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures on the project. Warner Bros. noted that its the first feature to be shot at the recently christened Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., and begins principal photography Monday.
“Kill,” based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s novel, centers on a soldier (Cruise) in a near-future war against aliens who relives his last day over and over after being killed. Through the training and battles he experiences in these time loops, he becomes a better soldier.
Cast includes Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic and Charlotte Riley. Screenplay is written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie and Joby Harold.
Erwin Stoff, Gregory Jacobs and Jeffrey Silver are the producers. The executive producers are Jason Hoffs, Joby Harold, Doug Liman, Dave Bartis, Tom Lassally, Hidemi Fukuhara, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Garcia and Bruce Berman.
The March 14, 2014 slot is already occupied by Disney’s fantasy “Maleficent,” starring Angelina Jolie, and DreamWorks Animation’s “Me and My Shadow,” to be released by Fox.
