Warner Bros. dates ‘Lego,’ ’42’

Animated feature in development since '08 set for Feb. 2014

Warner Bros. has dated its “Lego” feature for Feb. 28, 2014 — the studio’s first title to land that year — and selected next April 12 as the date for its Jackie Robinson biopic “42.”

“Lego” is currently in production as a 3D computer animated adventure be directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller from their original screenplay. Film will be produced by Dan Lin and Roy Lee with Oz vfx-toon house Animal Logic doing the animation.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are teaming on “42” with director Brian Helgeland with production starting May 14 in Birmingham, Ala. The film, starring Harrison Ford and Chadwick Bosman, will open three days before the 66th anniversary of Jackie Robinson Day.

“Lego” has been in development at Warner Bros. since 2008, when the studio began working with the toymaker on a family comedy based on the popular building blocks.
