LONDON — Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov’s “Waiting for the Sea” will open the 7th Rome Film Festival, which runs Nov. 9-17.
The fest, headed by Marco Mueller, has also announced that helmer-scribe Jeff Nichols will preside over the jury. Magical realist epic “Waiting for the Sea,” which world preems at the fest, will screen out of competition. The film — a Russian, German, Belgian, French, Kazakh and Ukrainian co-production — stars Egor Beroev, Detlev Buck and Anastasia Mikulchina. Nichols, whose credits include “Shotgun Stories,” “Take Shelter” and “Mud,” will be joined on the jury by seven others, as yet unnamed.
