Fest hosts Franco-American conference

MADRID –The 38th Deauville American Film Festival will pay tribute to U.S. producer Paula Wagner.

The homage to Wagner — who partnered with Tom Cruise for 13 years at Cruise/Wagner Prods., and now produces movies and legit productions — is one highlight at Deauville’s Franco-American confab, which runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 9 at the resort in Normandy, France.

Other events include a confab, Producing in the U.S. Today.

French panelists include Les Productions du Tresor’s Alain Attal, who is producing Guillaume Canet’s English-language debut, “Blood Ties,” in New York, and Mandarin Cinema’s Eric Altmayer, producer of “A Happy Event” and “The Conquest.”

Deauville’s Film Corner will allow French distribs to screen U.S. films. After the fest, the Cannes’ Market’s online film industry service Cinando will screen select films from Deauville’s program.

Deauville’s lineup will be announced July 25.
