Helmer also discusses group-project nature of filmmaking
It’s been four years since Andy and Lana Wachowski last attended a preem for one of their films, so they had plenty of support at the Chinese on Oct. 24 as new and old friends came to see the siblings’ latest, Warner Bros.’ “Cloud Atlas.”
Among the cast members in attendance were Tom Hanks and Halle Berry; Keanu Reeves, who starred in the Wachowskis’ breakout, “The Matrix,” also showed up in support of the new pic.
At the after party, the festivities continued as Hanks and CAA’s Kevin Huvane were seen hugging and laughing it up.
Andy Wachowski said when it came to adding Tom Tykwer as a director, he and Lana embraced the idea of sharing the filmmaking experience.
“We feel it discredits the film to say this is a ‘me’ project, it’s an ‘ours’ project and that includes everyone from cast and crew to me, Lana and Tom,” Andy said. “It’s not possible to make a movie by yourself, and if someone says so I’d like to see how that gets done.”
