Vladar boards ‘Head Smash’ adaptation

Yudin, Mejia to produce sci-fi thriller from Arcana graphic novel

Vlad Yudin and producing partner Edwin Mejia of The Vladar Co. are coming on to produce a feature version of Arcana Comics’ upcoming graphic novel “Head Smash.”

Yudin will write and develop the film adaptation of the comic, which is being penned by Erik Hendrix and illustrated by Dwayne Harris. Sci-fi thriller, set in the city of Ares, centers on an orphan named Smash who finds a safe haven with a brutal syndicate.

Vladar is also collaborating with Arcana on the comicbook, whose cover will be unveiled next month during Arcana’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Yudin and Mejia founded Vladar in 2008. Yudin wrote, directed an produced the documentary “Big Pun: The Legacy” about the late rapper Christopher Lee Rios, and the drama-comedy “Last Day of Summer,” starring DJ Qualls and actress Nikki Reed.

Arcana was founded by Sean Patrick O’Reilly in 2004 and owns 200 original intellectual properties, 300 graphic novels and thousands of comic issues.
