Universal’s home entertainment unit makes ‘Killing’

Chinese pic picked up from Fortissimo

Universal Pictures Intl. Entertainment, U’s home entertainment division, has acquired all rights for multiple territories on Chinese-Mongolian pic “An End to Killing.”

Pic, which is being shopped in Cannes by Fortissimo Films, was acquired for several territories including U.K. and Gaul.

Deal was brokered by Fortissimo managing director Nelleke Driessen and UPIE’s director of international acquisitions Jasper Van Hecke.

Wang Ping (“Six Women in War,” “Jin Hun”) directs the pic, which will be released in early 2013 following its Chinese theatrical release later this year.

Pic stars Zhao Youliang, Tu Men and Park Yejin and is set during the reign of Genghis Khan, when he decided to push westward to enlarge his empire.
