Tribeca taps Apps

Nonprofit lands new deputy exec director

Tribeca Film Institute, the nonprofit org affiliated with the Tribeca Film Festival, has enlisted Nicholas Apps to serve as the company’s new deputy exec director.

Working with exec director Beth Janson, Apps will take charge of individual giving and corporate sponsorship as well as TFI’s marketing and communication.

Apps previously served as associate deputy director of external affairs at Gotham’s Museum of Modern Art, where he helped helm fundraising programs. Prior to MoMA he was chief development officer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

TFI runs a host of programs focusing on filmmaker support and education, with several initiatives that overlap with the Tribeca fest. TFI is founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, the trio who also founded Tribeca Enterprises, the umbrella org that runs the festival as well as Tribeca’s distribution arm, Tribeca Film.
