Film unit acquires Edward Burns pic

Tribeca Film has acquired Edward Burns’ “The Fitzgerald Family Christmas” for a late November release across multiple platforms.

The family drama reunites Burns with Connie Britton and Michael McGlone from Burns’ debut film “The Brothers McMullen.” Tribeca announced the deal Wednesday, four days before the film is set for its world premiere as an official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Tribeca handled Burns’ 2011 release “Newlyweds” and said it was one of last year’s top-selling VOD titles.

Noah Emmerich, Kerry Bishe and Caitlin FitzGerald also star in a story of adult siblings dealing with the desire of their estranged father to return home for Christmas for the first time since he walked out on his family 20 years ago.

Burns produced the film alongside partner Aaron Lubin, and William Rexer II. Mike Harrop exec produced.

The deal was negotiated for Tribeca Film by Nick Savva and on behalf of the filmmakers by John Sloss at Cinetic Media.
