New Line's untitled pic directed by Steve Quale

Matt Walsh (“Veep”) has joined the cast of Steve Quale’s untitled tornado thriller at New Line opposite Arlen Escarpeta, Jeremy Sumpter, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Max Deacon and Nathan Kress.

Walsh is portraying a battle-tested storm chaser who is trying to get his last shot at capturing the eye of the tornado.

Quale — a longtime associate of James Cameron — is directing the tornado pic (formerly titled “Category Six”) in his second gig for New Line following “Final Destination 5.” Shooting began a week ago in Michigan.

Simon Beaufoy has rewritten the script for the project, which launched last fall when New Line bought John Swetnam’s script and set it up with Todd Garner at his Broken Road banner. Story, presented through videocameras and cellphones, follows numerous inhabitants of a small town in Oklahoma and a storm chaser and his crew when a tornado super cell touches down on their community.

Walsh is repped by CAA, Tucker Voorhees at Principato-Young Entertainment and Lev Ginsburg of the firm Ginsburg Daniels.
