Tokyo to open with ‘Cirque du Soleil’

Fest showcases Cameron, Adamson 3D pic

TOKYO — The Tokyo Film Festival has selected “Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” as its opening pic, fest officials announced Wednesday.

Produced by James Cameron and helmed by Andrew Adamson, the pic brings 3D to the Cirque du Soleil experience.

The 25th edition of the fest will unspool Oct. 20-28 at the Roppongi Hills complex and other Tokyo venues.

Cameron memorably came to the fest in 1997 for the world preem of “Titanic,” but his presence at the screening of “Cirque” has not yet been confirmed.

Paramount releases “Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away” in Japan on Nov. 9.
