Drama follows Danish soccer team
LONDON — British producer Kris Thykier (“Kick-Ass,” “W.E.”) is set to team with Danish producer Meta Foldager (“A Royal Affair,” “Melancholia”) for a film about Denmark’s unexpected victory at the 1992 European Soccer Championship.
“Denmark 92” will be directed by Kasper Barfoed, who just completed production on “The Numbers Station.” Anders August will write the screenplay.
“We believe this story has enormous potential not just in Scandinavia but around the world,” said Thykier.
“This is not a film merely about soccer, but about redemption, pride, friendship, determination and triumph against all the odds,” said Foldager.
The underdog story chronicles the Danish team’s journey to surprise victory.
PeaPie Films and Meta Films will co-produce.
