Percolate Prods. has set Kenton Duty (“Shake It Up!”), Katherine McNamara (“Madison High”) and Dan Flaherty (“Skins”) to star in “Contest,” an indie feature that first-time helmer Ajay Giunta will direct from his own script.
Pic co-stars Kyle Dean Massey (“Hart of Dixie,”), Mary Beth Peil (“The Good Wife”), Chris Riggi (“Gossip Girl”), Owen Teague (“Malibu Country”), Raviv Ullman (“Phil of the Future”) and YouTube sensation Jan “Johnny” Uczkowski, as well as Robert Wuhl (“Arli$$”), Tina Benko (“Brotherhood”) and Kelley Missal (“One Life to Live”).
Set in a small town high school where athletes are revered and the swim team rules, “Contest” explores the themes of trust, redemption and understanding, as well as the enduring power of friendship. Story follows two students — the bully and the bullied — who when forced to work together in a cooking contest, form an unlikely friendship. As the contest unfolds and stakes grow higher, old emotions resurface and the line between friend and foe is blurred.
Pic will feature performances from Talon Garret Ackerman, Morgan Ackerman, Jane Aronson, Alex Boniello, Megan Channell, Dan Fabi, Joseph Harrington, Ashton Harris, Landon Harris, Kent Moran, Jake Schwencke, and Emily Taroli.
Howard T. Alter will produce and Martin Katz will co-produce the pic, which is currently filming in Gotham.
