Shares of exhibitors slid Friday in the aftermath of a gunman killing 12 and injuring 59 others during a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in a Cinemark theater in Aurora, Colo.
Shares of Cinemark and Regal Entertainment Group both declined 4% with Cinemark off $1.12 to $23.15 and Regal down 61 cents to $13.35. Marcus Group slid 3.7%, down 54 cents to $13.33 and Imax declined 2%, declining 48 cents to $24.02.
Shares of Carmike, which initially opened higher following a Bloomberg report that the chain could be a takoever target, were down by 1.6%, off 34 cents to $14.48.
Ad sales company National CineMedia slid 4%, declining 63 cents to $14.51.
