TCM, Fathom partner on Universal pics

'Birds,' 'Frankenstein' among films coming to theaters

NCM Fathom Events is teaming with Turner cabler TCM to bring a handful of Universal classics to the bigscreen.

“The Birds” (Sept. 19), “Frankenstein” and “The Bride of Frankenstein” (Oct. 24) as well as “To Kill a Mockingbird” (Nov. 15) will be offered at theaters around the country, with TCM host Robert Osborne introducing each film.

After having sporadically scheduled movies, Fathom now aims to present one film a month. While the upcoming announced movies are from Universal, which is celebrating its 100th anni, future pics will be from various studios.

Fathom’s business model — airing different entertainment events in movie theaters — includes opera, sporting events and theater productions.
