Grode understands that naming rights are serious business, especially when a venue is seen by billions during the Oscar ceremony. In April, she was lead entertainment partner on the deal to rename the Kodak Theater as the Dolby Theater on behalf of Katten client CIM-H&H Media, which operates the Hollywood and Highland center.
Inside scoop: “The challenge for our industry will be to keep pace with and understand the digital world and its exploding exploitation of content, alongside the ethical responsibilities we all share.”
Words of wisdom for a beginner: “First learn the vocabulary and the players. Then find an area in which you feel you can make a contribution. Learn as much as you can, find a wonderful mentor who is doing it. Create a circle of people around you who support you in what you are doing and from whom you can learn. And when you have accomplished all of that, turn around and be a mentor to someone who is where you used to be.”
Smartphone habits: “I am connected to my office one hour a day when I’m on vacation. Never more.”
Work week: “I start my day at 6. Sometimes I don’t finish until 8 or later. My weekends belong to me, and I gladly pay the price by working very long hours during the week.”
Life-work balance: “I have a very warm and very close family and we enjoy being together, travelling together, not just sharing birthdays but sharing as much as we can. My two sons are my best friends.”
Charitable passions: “Ms. Foundation for Women. It focuses on a better world for women and girls, not only keeping them free from abuse and economic deprivation but providing positive role models and images, working for diversity, equal pay and equal access.”
