“Mindscape” is the first English-language film to roll under the production-financing-sales alliance between Jaume Collet-Serra’s Los Angeles-based Ombra Films and European major Studiocanal. Warner Bros. distributes in Spain.
“Mindscape” turns on a man with the ability to enter people’s memories. He takes on a girl’s case to discover whether she is a brilliant sociopath or traumatized teen.
Collet-Serra and his Ombra partner Juan Sola produce; Peter Safran and Spain’s Antena 3 Films also produce, in association with Miguel Angel Faura’s Barcelona-based Roxbury Films.
Following a now tried-and-tested model, Studiocanal will finance and handle international sales.
“Mindscape” is co-financed by Catalan pubcaster TVC and Canal Plus Spain.
Ombra aims to produce low-budget English-language horror and fantasy movies, tapping Spain’s genre directors and technical artistry, Catalan-born Collet-Serra’s Hollywood links and the financing and sales muscle of Studiocanal.
“Mindscape” is the feature debut of Dorado, best-known for one seg in 2007’s multi-part “Limonchello.”
