Strand nabs domestic rights to ‘Condemned’

Roberto Buso-Garcia thriller set for spring release

Strand Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Roberto Buso-Garcia’s thriller “The Condemned” and plans for a spring release.

Strand, which made the announcement on the eve of the American film Market, said it was in advanced negotiations with HBO for a deal to license the exclusive U.S. TV rights.

Cristina Rodlo and Rene Monclova star alone with Daisy Granados, Marise Alvarez and Jose Caro.

The movie, filmed in Puerto Rico, revolves around an old mansion that comes back to life when an heiress returns to restore it as a museum in her father’s memory. But the sins and guilt of the mansion’s past come to haunt the town and its residents who resent its buried history.

The deal was done between Strand Releasing’s Jon Gerrans and Buso-Garcia.
