California Pictures has sold distribution rights for German-speaking territories and Benelux to sci-fi action thriller “Scavengers” to Splendid Film.
Camelot Distribution Group made the deal at Cannes, where the film’s trailer was unveiled.
“Scavengers,” currently in final post-production, stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Jeremy London and Roark Critchlow. Directed by Travis Zariwny, it follows two rival space crews that battle to obtain superior technology known as the Chaos Generator that threatens the balance of the known universe.
Previously, California Pictures produced and distributed “A Warrior’s Heart,” which made its debut last year at Cannes.
California Pictures was founded in 1944 by Howard Hughes and producer/director/writer Preston Sturges and then reincorporated in 2008 by Steve Istock. Earlier this year, the banner signed on to produce and package “After the Storm,” a drama from writer-director Cole Wiley that stars Wendell Pierce.
Upcoming production slate includes the action film “The Golden State,” the “Scavengers” prequel and the comedy “1978.”
