Teen romancer debuted at Sundance

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired all U.S. rights and Canadian ancillary rights to Jonathan Kasdan’s teen romancer “The First Time,” which debuted at Sundance in January.

The “Friends With Benefits” team of Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer produced the Kasdan-scripted pic, which was exec produced by Carol Fuchs and Liah Kim.

Dylan O’Brien (“Teen Wolf”) and Britt Robertson (“The Secret Circle”) star as teens from different high schools who meet at a party. What begins as a casual conversation turns into something more intimate, romantic and complicated than either of them is ready for.

Victoria Justice and Christine Taylor co-star alongside Craig Roberts, James Frenchville, LaMarcus Tucker and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing ‘The First Time’ to Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and to begin working with them on a fresh, funny and inventive approach to reaching our audience,” said Kasdan. “Their enthusiasm for the movie, and for its young stars, makes them the ideal partner.”
