Sony closes in on spec comedy ‘El Tigre’

Project hails from tyro scribes Teddy Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum

Tyro scribes Teddy Riley and Aaron Buchsbaum have sold feature comedy spec “El Tigre” to Sony Pictures.

The pair sold the spec to Sony for six-figures following a competitive bidding situation with Paramount and MGM, according to sources with knowledge of the deal.

Action comedy revolves around a family vacation gone wrong when teh father is mistaken for the most ruthless drug lord in Mexico, “El Tigre.”

Riley works as assistant for manager Scooter Braun, whose clients include Justin Bieber, while Buchsbaum works for director Shawn Levy..

Paradigm, Mckuin Frankel Whitehead and Mosaic rep Riley and Buchsbaum. Mosaic will also produce.
