Simon Curtis in talks to helm Edith Wharton’s ‘Buccaneers’

'My Week With Marilyn' helmer would shoot pic next year

“My Week With Marilyn” helmer Simon Curtis is in talks to direct the adaptation of the Edith Wharton tome “Buccaneers.”

Alison Owen and Faye Ward will produce for Ruby Films.

The original story is set in London during a time when it was fashionable to marry for social position rather than romantic love and follows a group of American women seeking English husbands.

If the deal closes, the hope would be to shoot in the second quarter of 2013.

Curtis is repped by UTA and also has “The Golden Lady” in development.
