'Silver Linings,' 'Zaytoun' headed for German theaters

BERLIN — Senator Film has picked up David O. Russell’s Toronto fave “Silver Linings Playbook,” starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

The Weinstein Co. title follows a young man dealing with mental illness, while trying to rebuild his life and marriage with the help of a similarly troubled girl.

“Silver Linings” won this year’s Toronto Film Festival’s People’s Choice Award. Senator will release the pic on Jan. 3.

The Berlin-based distrib also nabbed fellow Toronto screener “Zaytoun,” by Eran Riklis (“Lemon Tree”). Stephen Dorff stars in the U.K.-Israeli-French co-production about an Israeli fighter pilot, who is shot down over Lebanon and forced to join a young Palestinian refugee (played by Abdallah El Akal) in order to get back to Israel. The film is set for a summer 2013 release in Germany.

Senator’s upcoming pics include “Robot & Frank,” French comedy “Paris Manhattan,” “Great Expectations” and “Chasing Mavericks.”
