True tale recounts spacesuits' roots with Playtex

Kat Likkel and John Hoberg have signed on to adapt Nicholas de Monchaux’s non-fiction book “Spacesuit: Fashioning Apollo.”

Marc Shmuger will produce through his Global Produce shingle along with company prexy Tom McNulty.

The book recounts the true story of how a team of bra and girdle makers from Playtex successfully designed and created the spacesuit that enabled Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to walk on the moon.

“This monumental achievement would never have been possible were it not for the perseverance and ingenuity of this unforgettable team of dreamers,” Shmuger said. “It’s a long way from the shop floor of Playtex to the surface of the moon, and this incredible story tracks how it happened.”

This marks the first feature the writing duo has penned. They’ve previously worked in television, writing and producing such shows as “My Name Is Earl” and “Better Off Ted.”

They are repped by UTA.
