Shukoff, Chelsey set to pen remake of 1987 comedy

“Summer School” is back in session at Paramount Pictures and Happy Madison, which have tapped scribes Bryan Shukoff and Kevin Chesley to pen the remake.

Adam Sandler, Jack Giarraputo and Heather Parry will produce for Happy Madison. Whether Sandler will star isn’t yet known, as the project is early in development.

The original 1987 movie starred Mark Harmon as a gym teacher forced to cancel his summer plans to teach a remedial English class full of misfit kids.

The assignment is a big coup for Shukoff and Kevin Chesley, whose previous credits are highlighted by three episodes of MTV comedy series “The Hard Times of RJ Berger.” The duo is currently developing the Fox pic “From Mia With Love” and are also writing the script to an untitled animated pic for Paramount Animation.

Shukoff and Chesley are repped by CAA and Mosaic. Sandler is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment.
