Screen Gems hip to grip’s script

Buys thriller 'Until Death' from first-time writer

A first-time screenwriter who most recently was doing grip work on “Horrible Bosses” has sold thriller script “Until Death” to Screen Gems, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura on board to produce.

Calvin Starnes will also do a rewrite on his own script. Plot details are vague, but sources describe the pic as a female-driven thriller in the vein of “The Town.”

Di Bonaventura would produce with David Ready through Di Bonaventura Productions.

This is Starnes’ first trek into the screenwriting world, having spent most of his time in Hollywood working below the line. Prior to this script sale Starnes was a grip on movies like “Due Date” and “Horrible Bosses.”

Di Bonaventura’s next pic “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” bows June 29.

Starnes is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion and Ginsburg Daniels.
