Scott Frank rewrites Chernin’s ‘Mountain’

Drama is based on novel by Charles Martin

Scott Frank has rewritten Chernin Entertainment drama “The Mountain Between Us,” the story of two strangers who survive a plane crash in Colorado.

“Pride” scribe J. Mills Goodloe wrote the first draft, based on the novel by Charles Martin, which centers on pair as they rely on each other to survive and eventually fall in love.

Michael Fassbender has been in talks to star as the male lead, a doctor and avid climber who uses his skills to transport his female companion down a mountain in harsh weather.

Peter Chernin, Dylan Clark and Jenno Topping will produce while “Miss Bala” helmer Gerardo Naranjo will make his English language directorial debut.

CAA reps Frank, who most recently penned “Marley and Me” for Fox in 2008. Scribe also wrote and is directing Universal drama “A Walk Among the Tombstones” starring Liam Neeson.
