Actor to receive Kirk Douglas lifetime honor at Dec. 8 fundraiser
Robert De Niro will receive the Kirk Douglas Award for excellence in film from the Santa Barbara Intl. Film Festival on Dec. 8.
De Niro, whose resume now totals more than 80 feature films, appears in the upcoming David O. Russell movie “Silver Linings Playbook.”
“I am a great fan, not only for what he does on screen, but also for establishing the Tribeca Film Festival,” said Douglas, who is scheduled to present De Niro the award. “It brought joy back to lower Manhattan in the aftermath of 9/11.”
The presentation will take place at a fundraiser gala for the 28-year-old SBIFF, which runs Jan. 24-Feb. 3.
