San Sebastian to honor Oliver Stone

Helmer to present 'Savages' alongside Travolta, Del Toro

Oliver Stone will receive the 60th anniversary Donostia Award for lifetime achievement at September’s San Sebastian Film Festival.

Helmer will attend the fest to present his latest film, “Savages,” alongside the thriller’s stars John Travolta and Benicio Del Toro.

Pic’s Spanish premiere will take place Sept. 23 at San Sebastian’s Victoria Eugenia Theater as part of the Zabaltegi-Pearls section.

A regular fest visitor, Stone has attended Spain’s biggest sprocket opera four times, with “Salvador” in 1986, opening San Sebastian velodrome screenings; with “Natural Born Killers” in 1994; in 2006, for “World Trade Center”; and in 2004 to present Fidel Castro feature docu “Looking for Fidel,” which played Zabaltegi Specials.

“Savages” opens in Spain Sept. 28, distributed by Universal Pictures International.

The San Sebastian fest runs Sept. 21-29.
