‘Rust & Bone’ to bow stateside on Nov. 16

Sony Pictures Classics dates Marion Cotillard starrer

Sony Pictures Classics has dated Jacques Audiard’s romance-suspenser “Rust and Bone” for a Nov. 16 release in the U.S.

“Rust” stars Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenarts in the story of an unemployed man who falls in love with a killer whale trainer. The film, which screened in competition at Cannes, was co-written by Audiard and Thomas Bidegain; Pascal Caucheteux produced.

Sony Classics also set a Dec. 28 release date in the U.S. for “West of Memphis,” Amy Berg’s documentary about the West Memphis Three. Pic, produced by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Damien Echols and Lorri Davis, debuted at Sundance and chronicles the investigation that ultimately broke the case open and led to the freedom of Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr.

Berg’s film examines the flawed police investigation into the 1993 murders of three young boys in West Memphis, Ark.
