Roth to head Un Certain Regard Jury

Thesp set for Cannes Film Festival gig

Tim Roth will be the president of the Un Certain Regard Jury at the Cannes Film Festival.

Roth made his first appearances at Cannes with “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction,” which won the Palme d’Or in 1994.

The rest of the jury of artists, journalists and festival directors will be announced in the next few days. Festival artistic director Thierry Fremaux will announce the sidebar of 20 films at the same time as the main competition program on April 19.

Roth will award the Prix Un Certain Regard along with the other awards on May 26, the day before the festival closes.

Roth directed 1999’s “The War Zone,” which played Cannes, Sundance and Toronto. Acting credits include “The New World,” “Don’t Come Knocking,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Funny Games,” and Allen’s “Everyone Says I Love You.”

Since 2009, he has starred in the lead role of the TV series “Lie to Me.”

Last year’s Un Certain Regard prize was awarded to “Arirang,” directed by Kim Ki-Duk (Korea) and “Halt Auf Freier Strecke” (Stopped on Track) by Andreas Dresen (Germany).
