'Snitch' helmer to direct and re-write sci-fi thriller

Relativity Media has closed a deal with “Snitch” helmer Ric Roman Waugh to direct and rewrite sci-fi thriller “Tipping Point.”

Producers are Temple Hill Entertainment’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey along with Relativity topper Ryan Kavanaugh and Industry Entertainment’s Andrew Deane. Relativity president Tucker Tooley and Industry Entertainment’s Jess Rosenthal executive produce.

“Tipping Point,” based on Todd Stein’s script, is set in a world 100 years into the future where the penalty for having children without a license is death. Story centers on an officer who lives for his job, until the day he discovers two fugitives he’s been pursuing are the love of his life who mysteriously disappeared years ago and the 12-year-old son he never knew he had.

Waugh’s “Snitch” opens Feb. 2. and stars Dwayne Johnson, John Bernthal, Barry Pepper, Michael K. Williams, Melina Kanakaredes, Benjamin Bratt, and Susan Sarandon.

Waugh was repped by WME and Management 360 in his deal.
