Redstone donates to Boston U. law school

Mogul created school's entertainment law course

Sumner Redstone has donated $18 million to Boston U. to improve and expand its law school facilities.

The donation will help pay for a new building that will bear Redstone’s name and house the majority of the school’s classrooms.

A lawyer by training, the mogul who controls CBS Corp. and Viacom joined Boston U.’s School of Law facility in 1982, where he created one of the nation’s first courses on entertainment law.

“As a former faculty member, native Bostonian, and the proud parent of a BU Law graduate, I could not be more pleased to provide this gift that will benefit generations of future students,” Redstone said.
