Independent Distribution and Fandango Portobello have agreed to co-release Matteo Garrone’s satire “Reality” in the U.K. on Dec. 14.
“Reality” won the Grand Prix at Cannes in May. The U.K. deal was announced Wednesday at the Toronto International Film Festival prior to the film’s screening at the fest.
The film stars Aniello Arena, Loredana Simioli and Nando Paone. It centers on a Neapolitan family man overhauling his entire life under the deluded belief that he is destined for reality-TV stardom.
Janine Gold of finance-sales banner Fandango Portobello, said, “This is the perfect opportunity for us to explore expanding into distribution in the U.K., which we have been contemplating for some time.
Independent’s Sarah Townsend and Stefanie Fahrion, newly appointed as heads of distribution, will handle “Reality” for the company.
