Publicist Michael Patrick Casey dies

Was exec VP at Hanson & Schwam Public Relations

Michael Patrick Casey, executive vice president at Hanson & Schwam Public Relations and a publicist representing clients including Barbara Eden, director Sean McNamara and producer David Brookwell, died July 21 in Santa Monica after a brief battle with cancer.  He was 82.

Another Casey client was Willy Bietak Prods, which produces national touring ice show “Broadway on Ice.”

Casey also worked with the agency’s motion picture department on recent independent films including “A Dangerous Method” and “Soul Surfer.”

Before joining Hanson & Schwam in 1994, Casey worked in the television and motion picture departments of Rogers & Cowan and Solters & Roskind as well as an independent publicist. He had also been director of publicity at Warner Bros. Television and NBC Prods., was a senior studio publicist at Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox TV and Lorimar and was the publicist for the “Mutant Ninja Turtles” film franchise.

He began his career in the entertainment industry as an actor under contract at 20th Century Fox.

Casey is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna; two sons; three daughters; and a granddaughter.
