Pretty Pictures picks up ‘Call Girl’

Political thriller stars Pernilla August

Pretty Pictures has picked up French film distribution rights to 1970s-set political thriller “Call Girl,” which stars Pernilla August.

The Swedish pic, which is repped by TrustNordisk, is the feature film debut from Mikael Marcimain, a commercials and TV helmer whose TV drama credits include “The Laser Man” and “How Soon Is Now.”

“Call Girl,” which will be released in Sweden this fall, is produced by Garagefilm Intl.’s Mimmi Spang (“Sebbe”). Spang was selected as one of European Film Promotion’s Producers on the Move last year.

Marietta von Hausswolff von Baumgarten wrote the screenplay while noted d.p. Hoyte van Hoytema (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) shot the pic.

Pretty Pictures previously picked up TrustNordisk titles “Perfect Sense” and Thomas Vinterberg’s “The Hunt,” which plays in competition at Cannes.
