Fest Traveler: Goteburg Film Festival

Production is booming in Goteborg — a trend exemplified by post-production outfit Filmgate, which, after local publicly funded studio Film i Vast, is probably the most active player in the city.

Over the past six years Filmgate has done post work on more than 55 features from 11 countries, including “The Woman in Black,” directed by James Watkins — Daniel Radcliffe’s first film following the Harry Potter series.

“We have shown that being on the west coast of Sweden doesn’t limit us in the international market,” says Filmgate co-founder Sean Wheelan. “International productions will come here for post and shooting. We are very excited about ‘Woman in Black’ and hope it will bring lots of publicity.”

Filmgate has also provided vfx for James McTeigue’s “The Raven” and Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia.”
