Tickets on sale Friday for Stratford Shakespeare Fest production
Christopher Plummer’s performance of “The Tempest” in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival production has been set for June 14 screenings at 565 U.S. theaters. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the actor and director Des McAnuff, hosted by “The Tempest” producer Barry Avrich. Tickets are available beginning Friday at participating theater box offices and online. Screenings are presented by NCM Fathom Events and BY Experience, in association with Entertainment One. Move to take “The Tempest” to theaters are part of efforts by Entertainment One to expand its distribution operations in the U.S. It released “Jesus Henry Christ” as its debut title — mostly as a VOD play — and will launch “Virginia,” with Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly, on May 18 in Los Angeles and New York. It also recently snagged U.S. and U.K. rights to David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis” and plans a late summer release in the U.S. “We’ve been jogging, and now we’re starting to run,” said Dylan Wiley, who joined eOne in August as VP of theatrical marketing and distribution. He told Variety that the operation will be looking to acquire titles in Cannes.
