Sundance filmmakers, thesps drop by Variety Studio

Sundance filmmakers and thesps dropped by the Variety Studio at the JGO Gallery on Main Street to discuss their new pics throughout fest week. Many were nervous about the impending premieres, while others were just preemed out.

“Ugh,” Lizzy Caplan said to her “Bachelorette” co-star Kirsten Dunst. “I could use a breakfast burrito.”

Spike Lee preemed his new one, “Red Hook Summer,” saying, “I hope someone buys it. I paid for it!”

Other guests talking up their pics were Richard Gere, Paul Giamatti and Chris Rock.

Sigourney Weaver, in town for “Red Lights,” said she felt right at home in Park City, Utah.

“I began my career in independent cinema, so this is extra special for me being at this festival,” the actress said. “Just wish I could see more movies!”

On Monday, the Sundance Institute and Women in Film Los Angeles co-hosted the first Women at Sundance brunch, held at the Park City home of Jacki Zehner. The institute’s Keri Putnam and WIF’s Cathy Schulman announced that the two orgs were joining forces “to make sure women beginning their filmmaking career at Sundance Institute continue to have a support system all along the way.”
