Paramount on ‘Patrol’ with new spec

Jayson Rothwell will pen drug trafficking pic; Sonnenfeld to produce

Jayson Rothwell has sold the spec “Patrol” to Paramount with Stefan Sonnenfeld producing through Sonnenfield’s Sunny Field Entertainment.

They will run it through the Insurge Label and are discussing a fast track to production

The pic follows US Marines patrol who while chasing drug smugglers to a remote island, their mission takes an unexpectedly deadly twist.

Sonnenfeld has provided post production work on numerous films including all three “Transformers,” “Star Trek,” “Cloverfield,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise and brings a special skill set and unique resources that will enable a seemingly large film / potential franchise to be made on a small budget.

Rothwell is currently penning the rewrite to “Spectral” for Legendary and has also worked on “Invaders” and “Fort Knox” for WB.

Rothwell and Sonnenfeld are both repped by WME.
